Pre-Dive Checks
The clear rear of the housing allows visual confirmation of the camera and O-ring seal before entering the water. The open-groove rear O-ring design suspends the seal in a natural position, making it easier to maintain and more reliable than traditional channel-based designs. Once closed, the O-ring can be clearly seen forming a secure, watertight seal.
For added peace of mind, the optional vacuum kit with 12.7 millimetre valve (#47012) is recommended. This allows a vacuum to be drawn on the housing to check for leaks prior to water entry.
Construction
The housing is constructed from a specially formulated ABS-PC blend, offering excellent durability while remaining significantly lighter than aluminium housings. The light-coloured exterior helps reduce heat build-up when shooting in warm, sunny conditions.
Lens Support
Ikelite lens ports are among the lightest available, while remaining robust enough to withstand demanding surf and dive conditions.
A wide range of lenses is supported. Most popular zoom lenses and selected focus rings can be operated using simple gearing systems that provide precise control at the fingertips. Zoom and focus gears vary depending on the lens in use.
Lens ports and zoom gears are sold separately. Refer to the appropriate port chart for compatibility details.
Wi-Fi Transfer
The camera’s built-in Wi-Fi function can be used to transfer images to another device without removing the camera from the housing. Wi-Fi functionality is available only above water and within close proximity to the connected device.
Compatibility
Unless otherwise specified, the housing does not support add-on grips, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD covers, or other camera accessories.
Differences in lens and control placement prevent other camera models from being used in or adapted to this housing. No alternative compatible camera models are currently known.
